QuickBooks Concepts Series

This lecture and demonstration series provides a program overview for a busy small office. Concepts cover much of the same material as the hands-on Operations series, but in a shortened time frame.

Module 1: Introduction to QuickBooks
Once you've decided which edition you need, learn how to navigate and set up preferences within QuickBooks. Gain a general understanding of recording and paying expenses, recording sales and creating invoices, receiving payments, making deposits, reconciling bank accounts, preparing basic financial reports, and backing up files.

Module 2: Getting Started and More: Module 1, or equivalent experience, is a prerequisite.
This workshop offers information on creating a new company file, setting user access and security, managing lists, additional sales functions such as sales receipts, daily sales summaries (for retail businesses), periodic statements, and bounced checks. Learn to manage credit cards, memorize and schedule transactions, and use classes to group income and expenses.

Module 3: Beyond the Basics: Module 1, or equivalent experience, is a prerequisite.
This workshop covers advanced sales functions, including prepayments, early payment discounts, handling returns, dealing with trades or barters, processing loans, customizing and distributing forms and reports, and year-end considerations.

Module 4: Payroll: Module 1, or equivalent experience, is a prerequisite.
Module 4 is an introduction to QuickBooks' payroll functions. Review functions necessary to set up payroll, process paychecks, pay taxes, and prepare tax forms. This course is design for Windows users. (For in-depth hands-on training, we recommend "QuickBooks Payroll Operations)

Module 5: Job Costing and Time Billing: Module 1, or equivalent experience, is a prerequisite.
This workshop covers QuickBooks' job cost accounting functions. Designed for contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, legal professionals, and others who need to create job estimates or budgets, track and bill for time and/or costs by job, prepare progress billing, and analyze actual job time, cost, and revenue vs. budget.
