Programs

Program Benefits
Sustainable Business Management ProgramDo you want you organization to save costs and ensure the most locally-available and efficient choices are made?

This program will introduce you to the concept of sustainability and how it can streamline operations and reduce overhead.

For as little as $9 an hour per person, participants will be shown how to focus time, energy, and funds for a more successful business.
  • Train your employees in the practice of conservation which can save up to 40% in utility bills.
  • Learn how to think through materials purchases to identify the best products in terms of cost and local material content (e.g., use of recycle papers).
  • Consider the logistics between the business, employee homes, and other interfaces to save fuel and time.
  • Conduct meetings electronically to save time and expense.
  • Encourage employees to identify new ways to economize.
  • Create an identity between management and the workforce that encourages communication.
This course objective is to understand the concepts behind sustainability and the "greening" of business practices to make better use of local materials and services that do not consume natural resources over the long term. Sustainable solutions usually save money as well as conserve resources. The students will have the opportunity to review their own business practices to find practical and more efficient alternatives to current practices. Examples where sustainable practices are being put to good use will be examined at site visits.

Workshops and Expert Speakers

Participate in 10 monthly, three-hour workshops focused on the introduction of the concept of sustainability and the many ways the theme affects operation of a small business. Topics include conservation utility and materials cost reduction, minimizing driving time and the use of teleconferences. Learn from experienced business leaders who have successfully put sustainability into practice.

Personalized Coaching
Enjoy one-on-one sessions with the instructor who is experienced in applying sustainability principles to your particular case. Benefit from a "green" audit of your business practices to pinpoint specific instances where a more sustainable alternative can be implemented.

Peer-to-Peer Support
Interact with your peers in exercises that will create new insights and forge new associations for the future.

Board Member Involvement
Board members of small businesses will be given an opportunity to also participate in seminars and activities to build a sense of cohesion and common purpose.
